Two Arrested for Robbing Brookline Cars

More than 100 Brookline cars were robbed recently, and two Brookline residents now face charges.

Two Brookline residents were arrested Friday in connection with numerous thefts that occurred in the neighborhood in the past month.

Sommer Pikutis, 27, of the 800 block of Fordham Street, and her boyfriend James Nardozi, 28, also of Brookline, face a variety of charges following a police investigation.

According to a report by Pittsburgh police, investigation of a recent crime spree in which items were stolen from cars in Brookline led police to serve an arrest warrant to Pikutis at her apartment.

While there, police seized illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia, and various stolen items, including jewelry, clothing, electronics, sunglasses, wallets, and purses. Police believe Pikutis broke into and stole from more than 100 vehicles in Brookline.

Pikutis was charged with 16 counts of theft from auto, 13 counts of receiving stolen property, criminal conspiracy, possession of marijuana, possession of Heroin, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Additional charges are pending.

Nardozi was charged with nine counts of receiving stolen property, criminal conspiracy, possession of marijuana, possession of Heroin, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Pikutis and Nardozi both were taken to the Allegheny County Jail.

Property owners have been identified for some of the stolen items. Detectives are in the process of cataloguing the items and identifying ownership of the rest of the property.

Victims should contact Zone 6 Detectives at 412-937-3051 if they believe they were a victim of theft from auto in Brookline during the past 30 days.

Wow! I noticed a lot of thefts going on in the area lately, but I thought the crime rate unfortunately increased... only two people did all of this! I don't know if that's a good or bad thing.

Incredible, isn't it? This type of crime has been happening throughout the South Hills this summer, but there was a particularly bad theft spree in Brookline at the end of August/beginning of September where many, many cars were hit. Hopefully hearing of these arrests will put some minds at ease.

Sadly they will most likely claim it was because of their addiction that they committed these crimes and get sentenced to probation and rehab and we will see them lined up outside the methadone clinic on 51 with the rest of the trash. The patch should do follow up articles on people like this.

I will follow the court dockets and do updates as needed.

I agree that some help may be needed if it's an addiction issue, however they also should be punished appropriately.

First of all Dormont is not a Trashy town , and neither are the people who live there. So I am assuming you consider yourself a piece of Trash, going to KO in Dormont. People make the choice to do drugs, and destory their lives. I went to KO and I am a very successful professional. Dormont is a great town, and it's too bad that peolpe like this give it a bad name. Just remember yeah I said it, no matter where you go, you take yourself with you. A drug addict is still a drug addict anywhere.

@yeah I said it: I have deleted your comment again. If you are going to make such statements about Dormont businesses, schools, etc., you must also post the link to an article or some other type of evidence to back up your claim.
