Thefts Reported on Five Brookline-Area Streets

Several more cases of theft from cars have been reported in September—and in most cases, the cars were unlocked.

The number of thefts from cars in the Brookline-Beechview area is growing, with several more cases reported in the first few days of September.

Residents on five Brookline streets were victims of theft in the first week of this month, with various items stolen from cars. Many of the vehicles were unlocked.

Below is a list of theft reports made to Pittsburgh police this week.

Fordham Street

  • Money and a DVD player were stolen from a vehicle parked in the 500 block between 11:30 p.m. on Sept. 3 and 6 a.m. on Sept. 4. There was no sign of forced entry.
  • Prescription medicine and a ring were stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 900 block between 9:30 p.m. on Sept. 4 and 8 a.m. on Sept. 5.
  • Clothes, a GPS, two cell phone chargers and money were stolen from a locked vehicle in the 900 block between 10 p.m. on Sept. 4 and 8 a.m. on Sept. 5. There were no signs of forced entry.

Norwich Avenue

  • Money and a flash drive were stolen from a possibly unlocked vehicle in the 700 block between 7 p.m. on Sept. 5 and 7:40 a.m. on Sept. 6.
  • Clothing and a bag were stolen from an unlocked vehicle in teh 800 block between 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 5 and 6 a.m. on Sept. 6.

Bay Ridge Avenue

  • Sunglasses, phone chargers and a GPS unit were stolen from a car in the 800 block between 10 p.m. on Sept. 3 and 8:30 a.m. on Sept. 4. There were no signs of forced entry.

Berkshire Avenue

  • A purse containing money, a GPS, a DVD system and a laptop were stolen from a locked vehicle in the 900 block between 8:30 p.m. on Sept. 4 and 8 a.m. on Sept. 5.

Jillson Avenue

  • Clothing, money and an iPod were stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 400 block between 8 p.m. on Sept. 3 and 8 a.m. on Sept. 4.

Editor's note: According to a report by Pittsburgh police, two men were arrested at 12:45 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7 in connection with thefts from vehicles in the South Side and the Strip District. It is not known whether those men are connected to recent Brookline robberies.
