According to the U.S. Marshals Service, members of the Western Pennsylvania Fugitive Task Force developed information Wednesday night that Edick was heading to Brownsville, Texas by car.

Task force members forwarded the information to the U.S. Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force and Gulf Coast Violent Crimes Task Force, who
coordinated apprehension efforts with the Texas Highway Patrol and the U.S. Border Patrol.

According to a news release, Edick’s vehicle was spotted at about 3 a.m. by University of Texas-Brownsville Campus Police in a campus parking lot in Brownsville.

Shortly after, campus police saw Edick on the campus grounds and began chasing him on foot.

Authorities said Edick attempted to escape by jumping into the Rio Grande River and swimming to Mexico.

U.S. Border Patrol agents were able to intercept Edick and arrested him.

Agents recovered a revolver from Edick during a search and authorities said Edick admitted knowing he was wanted on the Pennsylvania charges.

Edick was placed in the Cameron County Jail in Brownsville, pending extradition to Pittsburgh.
