Stolen Vehicle Found in Dormont

Dormont Police Blotter, June 8 to June 15

A vehicle reported stolen in Mt. Lebanon was found in Dormont on June 14.

and Mt. Lebanon police responded to a report of a vandalized and heavily damaged vehicle parking in Lima Alley in Dormont, near Mississippi Avenue, around 6:43 a.m.

The vehicle—which had been reported stolen several hours earlier from a Mt. Lebanon residence—was substantially damaged, according to police, with four broken side windows, smashed windshield and a smashed rear window.

The vehicle was impounded to be processed by police.

June 8

  • Dormont police responded to a report of an intoxicated woman causing a disturbance and refusing to leave on Potomac Avenue at 8:36 p.m. According to the police report, the woman became belligerent and combative with police officers. Julie Weitzel, 42, of Beechview, was taken to the Dormont police station and cited for public drunkenness.
  • Potted plants and flower arrangements were reported stolen from the front of on West Liberty Avenue.

June 13

  • Police responded to a report of theft in the 2900 block of Voelkel Avenue at 3:13 p.m. According to the report, a lock was cut off of a storage locker inside the building. Several items belonging to a tenant were stolen. No arrests have been made.
  • Three men in their late teens or early 20s reportedly robbed the store in the 2900 block of West Liberty Avenue around 8:30 p.m. A store employee told police two bottles of alcohol were stolen, and the men fled the area on foot. No arrests have been made.

June 15

  • Dormont police responded to an apartment building in the 1400 block of Potomac Avenue for a report of a man lying in a hallway at 1 a.m. Police called paramedics to the scene. According to the police report, the man, identified as 25-year-old Cory Leslie of Dormont, began yelling profanity and trying to hit the officers and paramedics at the scene. Leslie reportedly became so combative with the officers that he was tased, and was taken to the Dormont police station, where he was held until he was sober. Leslie was charged with public drunkenness, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

The police also responded to a number of noise disturbances, parking complaints, and alarm activations that did not result in arrests or charges.
