Stamp Bags, Needle Found on Man Reported for Public Intox in Dormont

Dormont police blotter, June 14 to June 21.

A Dormont man was charged last week after police said he was found visibly intoxicated on Peermont Avenue.

Dormont police responded to the 1000 block of Peermont Avenue at 6:15 p.m. for a report of an intoxicated male in the area.

According to the police report, a man identified as Vaughn Chronister, 43, of Dormont, was found in the area. Police said Chronister was unable to stand without swaying, and did not know what day it was. Stamp bags, a lighter, and a hypodermic needle were found in Chronister’s possession, according to the report.

Chronister was charged with disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.

June 15

  • Dormont Police assisted the Port Authority Police, Dormont Volunteer Fire Department and Medical Rescue Team South in responding to an accident in which a train and an SUV collided on the LRT tracks just after 5 p.m.
  • An officer on patrol at 2:15 a.m. saw a man yelling outside of Vasta on West Liberty Avenue, then take his shirt off and approach another man. According to the police report, the man—identified as James Barnaba, 24, of Brookline—refused several requests from officers to stop yelling and leave the area. Barnaba was issued citations for public drunkenness and disorderly conduct.
