Red Cross Assists Beechview Family After Fire

The Red Cross is helping a family after a Beechview town house caught fire last week.

and a neighboring home in Beechview displaced two people.

Two adult tenants were home at the time of the fire, and escaped with no injuries. Both were displaced from the Vodeli Street home and are being assisted by the Red Cross. A pet cat died in the fire.

The fire broke out Thursday, June 28, around 5:30 p.m. at a two-story town house on Vodeli Street. According to fire Chief Darryl Jones, the building was heavily damaged, and the fire also caused minor damage to the roof of a neighboring home.

The fire was under control just after 6 p.m., Jones reported.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. About $85,000 of damage was done to the building.
