Principal to Stand Trial on Lewdness Charges

A charge of indecent assault, in connection with an incident at McCandless gym, was dropped.

An Allison Park man accused of masturbating in front of a 17 year-old boy inside the sauna at the LA Fitness on Duncan Avenue in McCandless Crossing was ordered Wednesday to stand trial on several charges.

But three charges against Alfonzo DeIuliis, 37, the principal of Pittsburgh Brookline K-8, were dropped.

At a preliminary hearing before District Judge William Wagner, three teenage boys testified that in three separate instances, DeIuliis exposed himself, and asked one teen if he could perform oral sex on him, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported.

The judge held DeIuliis for court on charges of indecent exposure, open lewdness, corruption of minors and unlawful contact with a minor. A charge of indecent assault, and one count each of indecent exposure and open lewdness were dropped, the PG reported.

Defense attorney Phil DiLucente told the paper his client is innocent. "We're very anxious... to get into court and fight the charges that remain," he said.

No trial date has been set.

DeIuliis is on paid administrative leave from his job as Principal of Pittsburgh Brookline K-8.
