Preliminary Hearings Scheduled for Men Involved in Dormont Drug Bust

Two men were arrested for having drugs in an apartment in the presence of a 2-month old child.

Preliminary hearings are scheduled for two men arrested after police said heroin, marijuana and ecstasy were found in their apartment, where they also were watching a 2-month-old child.

Lamar Castile, 32, of Dormont, and Jermaine Edmonds, 34, of Brookline, were arraigned March 29 on charges of narcotics possession, possession with intent to deliver and other drug violations.

Allegheny County Adult Probation and Drug Enforcement Agency officials notified Dormont police on March 28 of an arrest warrant for a Dormont man for violating probation terms.

, where Castile was stopped outside of the building and taken back inside.

Inside his apartment, police said they found 50 stamp bags of suspected heroin, along with 14 bags of marijuana and several capsules of suspected ecstasy. Castile had 393 stamp bags of suspected heroin on his person at the time, according to the police report.

Castile's 2-month-old child was in a crib in the apartment. Police contacted Children and Youth Services, and the child was returned to its mother’s care.

Edmonds posted a $10,000 bond. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Thursday before Magisterial District Judge Blaise P. Larotonda.

Castile was unable to post a $30,000 bond, and is being held in Allegheny County Jail. His preliminary hearing also is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Thursday, April 5, at 1:30 p.m. before Larotonda.
