Police Investigating Violent Robberies in Beechview

One robbery occurred Friday, the other Saturday morning.

Pittsburgh police are investigating two violent robberies that occurred in Beechview on Friday and Saturday.

The first was reported Friday, April 20, at 9:56 p.m. A man and woman told police they were walking near the park on Orangewood Avenue when several people inside a parked silver van or SUV began yelling at them. A man got out of the vehicle and robbed the male victim at gunpoint, then fled in the vehicle, according to the report.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5'4" tall, between 19 and 21 years old. According to the report, the man is dark skinned and clean shaven, and was wearing a black baseball hat, black shirt, and jeans.

The second robbery occurred Saturday morning just after 2 a.m. A woman told police she parked her car in the 1100 block of Sebring Avenue, and when she got out of the car was approached by a black man who demanded her keys.

According to the report, when she refused to give up her keys, a second black man approached her with a handgun and hit her with it. The men stole her keys and purse, and one fled in her car while the other drove away in a dark-colored car, the report stated.
