The Pittsburgh Police Department is initiating an Anti-Theft From Vehicle Campaign through Sept. 30.
In light of a number of reported theft from vehicle incidents, police are warning residents to always lock their vehicles, close windows and keep valuables and personal items out of sight when they leave their cars.
There were a total of 1,027 theft from vehicle incidents in Pittsburgh neighborhoods between January and June 2012. Of that number, 29 incidents were reported in Brookline and 16 in Beechview. More incidents were reported since, and were noted in Dormont-Brookline Patch police blotters from July and .
In July, , and surrounded the man until police arrived.
