Paintball Vandals Strike Dormont Houses

Dormont police blotter, May 10 to May 17.

The numbers of reported vandalism incidents tend to increase when the weather gets warmer, and the most recent act in Dormont involves paintballs.

Numerous houses in the 1500 block of Dormont Avenue and the 3200 block of Gaylord Avenue were reportedly struck with paintballs overnight on May 11.

Police said at this time, there is no suspect or vehicle description. Those with information, or who see anyone suspicious in their neighborhoods, are asked to call Dormont police.

  • Dormont police also responded to numerous reports of illegally parked vehicles, noise complaints, and minor hit-and-run accidents during the past week.

May 10

  • Police responded to the 1400 block of Potomac Avenue at 11:14 p.m. for a report of a woman yelling obscenities at people walking through the area. Police arrested Karen Territo, 50, of Dormont, after she refused police requests to calm down and stop yelling, according to the police report. Territo was charged with public drunkenness.

May 12

  • The license plates on three cars parked in a lot off of Glenmore Avenue were folded in half, but were not detached or taken from the cars. The damage was found the morning of May 12, and likely occurred the night before. Police are investigating the incident, and said it appears to be a random act of vandalism.

May 13

  • Officers responded to the 1400 block of Espy Avenue, at Potomac Avenue, for a report of an unconscious man on sidewalk. According to the police report, the man—identified as Raymond Pfister, 50, of Pittsburgh—had to be physically lifted from ground by officers and carried to a police car. Paramedics were called to the Dormont Police Station to treat Pfister. Pfister was issued a citation for public drunkenness.
  • Police were called to the 2600 block of Voelkel Avenue at 11:58 p.m. for a report that a parked vehicle was hit by a suspected drunk driver. Police determined that the driver, identified as Jeffrey Rowland, 27, of Brookline, had been driving the wrong way down a one-way portion of the street. According to the police report, Rowland admitted to drinking in Green Tree earlier in the evening. Rowland was charged with an alcohol-related DUI, careless driving, and was driving the wrong way on one-way roadways.
