One Arrested for Vehicle Thefts in Beechview

Pittsburgh police arrested a man in Beechview Sunday for stealing items from vehicles.

Pittsburgh police arrested a man early Sunday morning after Beechview residents reported the man for breaking into vehicles.

Officers responded to the 2200 block of Lonergan Street at 4:30 a.m. June 17 for a report that two men driving a silver car had been seen breaking into various cars in the neighborhood. According to the police report, officers arrived at the scene and saw the silver car, as well as a man leaving another parked vehicle on the street.

Daimond Hill, 19, was found hiding underneath a parked truck in the 300 block of Lonergan Street. According to the report, police found several stolen items in Hill's posession. Hill was charged with theft From vehicle, receiving stolen property and theft by unlawful taking. He was taken to the Allegheny County Jail.

Another man fled the scene and was not caught. He is described as a black man who was wearing a blue t-shirt and a baseball cap.

Several more stolen items were recovered from the silver car. Police learned later that the car had been stolen from Mt. Washington earlier that day.
