No Students Injured in Chartiers Valley School Bus Accident

A car plowed into the rear of the Chartiers Valley primary school bus Monday afternoon on Route 50 between Scott Township and Heidelberg.

A car crashed into the rear of a Chartiers Valley school bus Monday afternoon, but no students were injured and the vehicle was able to finish its routes.

A witness told Chartiers Valley Patch that they saw the car stuck beneath the rear of the bus on the Route 50 bridge between Heidelberg and Scott Township shortly after 4 p.m.

Superintendent Brian White Jr. said no primary school students on Bus 36 were injured. He added that transportation director Michael Mazzeo Jr. went to the scene and found the bus to be undamaged before clearing it to finish dropping students off to their homes.

A parent whose daughter rides the bus said she became concerned when the bus was running later than usual. She called the transportation department and learned about the accident, although she was not able to gather many more details.

Scott Township police Chief Jim Secreet called the crash “minor.” However, there was enough damage to the car that it had to be towed from the scene.

Scott Township police are investigating the crash.

I've always gotten the recorded message when my sons' buses run late after school. But it would be nice if we could also get the messages in the morning when the bus is running significantly late...

But although my youngest son doesn't ride bus 36, I still think that it is unacceptable that the phone message system wasn't used on Monday. I know that I would have been pretty upset!

I am reading it by phone. Have checked several times today to see if another ad was put up and there is still the same problem.... Meanwhile I would love to know why parents are allowed to smoke at the bus stops where all the kids are...I won't get out of my car, but my son has to and they are right there puffing away inside the groups of little ones!!!

My daughter rides bus 36 in the afternoon and i was very upset that no phone calls were made about the accident or the bus running late until 40 minutes after her scheduled drop off time. Parents of the students who ride that bus should have been notified right away. I work everyday and her grandparents get her off the bus and they called me when her bus didn't show up. They need to fix their system parents should be notified right away when their child's bus is involved in an accident!! I'm thankful that my daughter and the other children were not hurt!!
