No New Info in Stolen Car Mirror Incidents

Mirrors were stolen from several Brookline cars over the weekend, but police have no new information.

Pittsburgh police are still investigating several over the weekend, but they don’t yet have any new information in the case.

Three reports of stolen mirrors on Berkshire Avenue and two on Eben Street were made between Jan. 13 and Jan. 16, but vehicles throughout Brookline were affected. The exact number of damaged vehicles was not known.

According to the report, mirrors were completely—and carefully—removed from the cars in some cases, while in other cases only the mirror glass was removed. Mirrors from both the driver and passenger sides of the vehicles were taken.

Brookline resident Kathy Miller said she used to live near Berkshire Avenue, although she now lives in another part of Brookline. She said she knew similar incidents had occurred throughout the neighborhood, but said she luckily wasn’t a victim.

“I know it’s been a problem in the past, but I’m not aware of anything happening recently,” she said. “I know it’s happened (on Berkshire) but not recently in my neighborhood.”

Miller said she and her brother, also a Brookline resident, each had cars stolen several years ago, but that those types of incidents didn’t seem to have happened much until recently.

“It’s a shame that it’s happening,” she said.
