Mt. Lebanon Woman Charged For Involvement in West Liberty Accident

A Mt. Lebanon woman—who was not involved in the accident herself—was charged after the confrontation police said she started at the scene.

A Mt. Lebanon woman faces numerous charges after Dormont Police said she initiated a confrontation with police at the scene of a car accident she was not involved in.

Julie Diana, 49, was charged with obstructing administration of law enforcement, resisting arrest, permitting an unauthorized person to drive her vehicle, and other vehicle registration violations.

According to the report from Dormont police, officers responded to the scene of an accident at the intersection of West Liberty and Pioneer avenues on Aug. 18 at 8:13 p.m.

One of the drivers told police he was driving Diana's vehicle, and said she was on her way to the scene with the appropriate paperwork for the car.

Police said that when Diana arrived at the scene, she immediately became confrontational with both police officers and the occupants of the second vehicle.

According to the police report, Diana became physically combative with police officers, yelled obscenities at both officers and the occupants of the second vehicle and, at one point, attempted to get behind the wheel of her own vehicle and drive away, even though officers and the occupants of the other car were standing in front of her vehicle at the time.

Dormont police had to use wrist locks to restrain Diana, and called Mt. Lebanon police for backup, according to the police report. She was arraigned the following day.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 29 at 1:30 p.m. before Magisterial District Judge Blaise Larotonda.
