McFarland Lot to Close, New Lot Opens Tuesday in Dormont

The Junction Lot at the corner of McFarland Road and West Liberty will close to the public Tuesday morning, and the new lot across the street will open.

One of Dormont's parking lots will close for good on Tuesday morning, and a brand new lot will open to the public across the street.

The Junction Lot at the corner of McFarland Road and West Liberty Avenue will close to the public Tuesday morning, as part of the land swap agreement between Dormont Borough and #1 Cochran Automotive Group.

The new parking lot, across the street in the 3200 block of West Liberty, will be open to the public on Tuesday. Click here for more information about this project.

Borough manager Jeff Naftal said all cars must be removed from the Junction Lot by midnight on Monday, July 29 or risk being towed on Tuesday morning.

All parking permits for the Junction Lot will be valid in the new parking lot, which also features a kiosk parking system that allows patrons to use coins, bills or credit/debit cards for payment.

After you paying the kiosk, patrons will receive a receipt that should be placed on the vehicle's driver-side dashboard.

Public parking will be more limited in the borough when the West Liberty/McFarland lot closes to the public, because the new parking lot contains fewer parking spaces.

Naftal said the borough will arrange for additional parking options, and those options will be discussed and possibly approved at the borough council meeting on Monday, Aug. 5.
