Man Robbed After Leaving T Station

Dormont police blotter, June 2 to June 8.

A Dormont man who had just gotten off the train and was walking near Park Boulevard on June 1 was reportedly assaulted and robbed.

The man told that he had just gotten off the T and was walking home around 11 p.m. He was nearing the 1400 block of  Park Boulevard when another man hit him from behind, told him to “shut up” and hand over all of his money, according to the report.

The suspect took cash from the man’s wallet and ran away in the direction of the train station. No arrests have been made in the case.

  • Officers responded to Vasta on West Liberty Avenue at 1:30 a.m. for a report that a cell phone had been stolen from a purse. The purse had been left unattended at a table near the bar, according to the report.

June 7

  • The resident of a home in the 1500 block of Tolma reported that a roommate’s house guest had stolen between six and eight checks from his checkbook, and attempted to cash a $100 check after forging his name. Police said Friday that no arrests had been made yet, but that this is an ongoing investigation.

The police also responded to a number of noise disturbances, medical assistance calls and parking complaints that did not result in arrests or charges.

Baldwin police stopped motorist David Charles Kalmeyer, 31, of Dormont , for driving erratically in the 400 block of McNeilly at around 11:52 p.m. on June 1.

According to the police report, the officer smelled alcohol coming from Kalmeyer and reported that he failed field-sobriety tests. Kalmeyer was arrested, charged with suspicion of DUI and taken to the Mt. Lebanon police station for a blood test as part of Baldwin's cooperation with the Mt. Lebanon Area DUI Task Force. Results of that test are pending.
