Man Cited, Hospitalized After Being Found on Dormont Sidewalk

Updates from Dormont Police, Aug. 2 to Aug. 9.

A Dormont man was cited and hospitalized after a police officer found him lying on a sidewalk in the 1300 block of Peermont Avenue.

An officer on patrol saw the man, identified as Michael Devine, 63, lying on the sidewalk on Peermont Avenue at midnight on Aug. 4. According to the police report, Devine was conscious but unable to sit up, and when the officer asked Devine if he knew what day it was, Devine answered, “November.”

Devine refused medical treatment at the scene and at the Dormont Police Station, but police contacted Medical Rescue Team South Authority to respond when officers saw that Devine had injuries to his head and cheek, and was bleeding from his right hand.

Devine was taken to St. Clair Hospital for treatment. He was issued a non-traffic citation for public drunkenness.

  • Michael Rooney, 22, of Brookline was arrested on West Liberty Avenue near Potomac Avenue after a bouncer at Vasta Lounge reported Rooney pulled a knife on him after trying to start a fight inside the bar. Rooney was charged with aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person and disorderly conduct.
  • James Walsh, 68, of Mt. Lebanon, was issued a non-traffic citation for urinating on the sidewalk in the 3000 block of West Liberty Avenue on Aug. 8 at 7:20 p.m.
  • Terry Brennan, 62, of Dormont, was cited for disorderly conduct and public drunkenness after police received a report that Brennan was ringing doorbells of apartments in the 2700 block of Broadway Avenue at 4:25 a.m. on Aug. 8.
