Man Charged with Three Counts of DUI After Incident in Dormont

The following incidents were reported to Dormont police between May 26 and June 6:

May 26

  • Police responded to the CoGo’s on Potomac Avenue for a report of a possibly intoxicated person stumbling around the parking lot and then driving way from the lot just after 9 a.m. According to the police report, Patrick O’Connell, 25, of Dormont was found a short time later sitting in his car in the wrong lane on Dell Avenue, just past the Hillsdale Avenue intersection. According to the police report, O’Connell told an officer he had been drinking and also had taken the drug Ecstasy. O’Connell was taken to St. Clair Hospital, then to Dormont Police Station, where he was held until he was sober. O’Connell is charged with three counts of DUI and traffic offenses.

  • Police responded to the 2800 block of Espy Avenue at 8:34 p.m. for a stolen purse report. The victim told police the purse had been found, but that $40 worth of postage stamps and a Port Authority bus pass were missing.

June 5

  • Police were called to the CoGo’s on Potomac Avenue at 1:50 a.m. for a report of a disturbance inside the store. According to the police report, a CoGo’s employee told police a woman—identified as Sanaa Lofti, 31, of Whitehall—assaulted him and accused him of stealing from her. Loft will be mailed a citation for disorderly conduct, according to the report.

  • A man came to the Dormont Police station and reported that an iPod was stolen from his vehicle while it was parked in the 3100 block of Pioneer Avenue between June 3 and June 4. According to the police report, the vehicle was locked and it appeared that the vehicle’s alarm system had been triggered. Police are investigating the theft.
