Greyhound Bus Gets Stuck on Dormont Street

A tour bus ended up in a local neighborhood, and couldn't get out. Did you see it?

A group of passengers got an unexpected tour of Dormont on Feb. 15 after a Greyhound bus got stuck on a neighborhood street.

Dormont police responded to the incident in the 1100 block of Wisconsin Avenue at 5:46 p.m.

Sgt. James Burke said it appeared as though the bus had taken a wrong turn onto the street from West Liberty Avenue, and then wasn’t able to navigate the narrow neighborhood streets to get back out.

McGann & Chester Towing, which Burke said specializes in moving large equipment and vehicles, was called to the scene, and about three hours later—around 8:30 p.m.—the bus was freed. No vehicles or property in the area were damaged.

Although Wisconsin is marked with a sign that reads “No tractor trailers beyond this point,” Burke said nearly every instance of stuck commercial vehicles the police respond to occur in that neighborhood.
