Dormont/Brookline Blotter April 1-8

A round-up of crimes reported in Dormont and Brookline.

Brookline

Robbery:

Matthew Sciulli, 23, of Mount Lebanon, tried to rob the Subway in the 1300 block of West Liberty Avenue just before 6 p.m. Thursday but was caught inside by two nearby police officers, Pittsurgh police said.

Sciulli held had hand in his jacket pocket as if he had a gun and demanded money from a cashier, police said.

Sciulli was charged with robbery and taken to the Allegheny County Jail. He was also wanted for an outstanding theft warrant in Bethel Park.

Dormont:

Burglary:

A resident of the 2900 block of Mattern Avenue reported someone broke into their apartment and stole a television sometime between Tuesday and Wednesday.

Disorderly conduct:

Taliang Yao, 70, and Howard Keillor, 31, both of Dormont, were April 1 on suspicion of causing a disturbance at their residence.  Police said they’ve responded to several such calls over the past few months.

A juvenile was cited for disorderly conduct Saturday for a disturbance in the 2800 block of Louisiana Avenue.

A resident of the 2900 block of Mattern Avenue reported Tuesday that someone broke their garage door windows.

A resident of the 1700 block of Potomac Avenue reported that someone damaged several bushes in their front yard on Sunday.
