Dormont Woman Arrested in Baldwin Road Rage Incident

A Baldwin Township police officer pulled a gun on the woman during the incident.

A Dormont Borough woman was arrested in Baldwin Township on Nov. 13 after police said she punched two women and hit a pedestrian with her car during a road rage incident.

Baldwin Township police Chief Terrence P. O'Brien said police arrived at the intersection of Dewalt and Newport drives after the Dormont woman—identified as Amanda Marie Petrelli, 29, of Tennessee Avenue—had reportedly punched the other two women, a mother and daughter who were riding together in the same vehicle.

All three women were involved in the same traffic accident at the intersection, O'Brien said.

According to the police report, a witness saw Petrelli punch the two women while all three were standing outside their vehicles. When police arrived, Petrelli had gotten back into her vehicle, and police said the witness was yelling at Petrelli to stop driving away. At that point, O'Brien said, Petrelli drove straight into the witness, knocking him onto her vehicle's hood.

A Baldwin police officer then commanded Petrelli to stop, but she continued driving away until the officer drew his gun and pointed it at her.

O'Brien said that, when Petrelli exited her vehicle again, the officer smelled alcohol on her breath and observed her as having watery and bloodshot eyes. Marijuana was found in her vehicle, as well, according to the police report.

Petrelli was arrested and taken to the Allegheny County Jail. She was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, possession of marijuana, aggravated assault, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.

This report originally appeared on Baldwin-Whitehall Patch.

A place like what Robert?
Jsmith November 20, 2012 at 01:37 pm
Where does this Robert character live? If you don't live in Dormont why are you always posting negative things about the place?
Robert November 20, 2012 at 01:49 pm
Sorry ed....thought I made that clear......a place like dormon
Robert November 20, 2012 at 01:50 pm
used to live there smitty.....moved to Upper St. Clair......just in the nick of time
Jsmith November 20, 2012 at 02:02 pm
figured as much. Dormont isn't Homewood, Wilkinsburg, etc. Cracks me up people from the Lebo, USC bubbles think as much. I grew up in Lebo and there is just as much 'trash' and as many jerks in those places. Didn't some guy just murder a guy in a road rage incident...?
H Marie November 20, 2012 at 02:18 pm
And the lovely teen who smashed his girlfriend in the head with a hammer was from Mt. Lebanon. Doesn't matter where you live, there are stupid, "trashy" people everywhere. Dormont is no different than any other community - there are good and bad people.
DSA November 20, 2012 at 02:19 pm
Rob's allowed to post whatever he wants, this is America after all. If someone wants so badly to get out of a town that they move but they closely follow that towns news each day it is just a comment on their own life, albeit a sad one. Rob i am envious that you have found purpose in your life and have become active in your new, better, and prosperous community. Woe are we who strive to eek by in life despite this terrible, crime ridden, backwards community we are trapped in.
T&B T November 20, 2012 at 09:39 pm
Nowadays there are load of wack-jobs in ALL communities. I don't know Robert; but I know people like Robert and they just try to get a rise out of people; most likely he is just being weird to get people cranked up. Haha! ..just chuckle at his posts.
Robert November 20, 2012 at 09:39 pm
Thanks disa.....but don't be envious....I'm not much involved in my new community....I hardly talk to anybody. Try to think of it this way disa...if everyone had the means to move to Upper St. Clair......it would soon be as bad as dormon
T&B T November 20, 2012 at 10:32 pm
Where's Dormon ?
Ed M November 21, 2012 at 02:25 am
I grew up in Lebo too. Every community has it's morons.
Ed M November 21, 2012 at 02:27 am
USC ain't exactly Shangra-La! The rich can be meaner than those with less money. At least people in Dormont know their neighbors.
erika November 21, 2012 at 02:41 pm
I just moved from USC back to Brookline after 5 years, mainly to escape attitudes like Robert's. Brookline/Dormont area has so much more character/vibrancy. Before you start calling me low class, Robert, understand that I have two Master's Degrees and am a professional (not that not having a degree would EVER make anyone low class, but I anticipate Robert potentially having that mind set, so I am just fending off his next comment). To each his own, but you won't find me trashing USC when we hear about someone getting raped in the high school stairwells or GET THIS: an USC man actually killing someone in a road range incident, after a minor fender bender, earlier this month. Hmmm,I could never live in a place like USC with this ilk and the shenanigans they pull. Look it up, Robert, and do some research before you spout off.
Ed M November 21, 2012 at 08:04 pm
Is Amanda related to Leah?
Nazy H November 21, 2012 at 09:32 pm
Phew! For a minute there, I thought Robert WAS living in Dormont. So glad we have positive, upbeat, friendly people who contribute to society in Dormont, USC can have all the negative, nasty people it wants.
Robert November 22, 2012 at 02:33 am
Seems like many of you have a severe case of......Those little town blues.......I do understand though that you have to make the best of it. Suggested therapy includes.....take in a day at Kennywood or Sand Castle......maybe take a ride up to Storybook Forest......even a two tier bus tour of McKeesport just to get your mind of dormon for a short time. Try it....it does wonders....it's what I used to do......I haven't been to any of these places since I moved to USC.
erika November 22, 2012 at 03:03 am
Ah, these all sound great. If only i could afford to upgrade to the Just Ducky tour my life would be complete.
T&B T November 22, 2012 at 03:05 am
Robert I hear there's selling lives at K-Mart 50% off; get yourself one. :)
erika November 22, 2012 at 03:12 am
K-Mart is in West Mifflin though, he will have to wait to see if the new Target that opens up in SHV carries lives.
Ed M November 22, 2012 at 03:37 am
1st off Robert, it's Dormont. It's sad you don't go anywhere. Probably because you can't afford to.
Jsmith November 22, 2012 at 07:02 am
It's DORMONT! Not Dormon. Sounds like you have a severe case of needs something better to do with his life rather than continually post about a town in which he no longer lives. Stick to the USC Patch please and thank you.

Hi guys,
I think we've all made our points here. I guess the police report is wrong, the witnesses lied, and the victims aren't telling the truth either. Why then is she in jail if she did nothing wrong? Did someone plant the drugs on her and I wonder how the alcohol got in her system for the DUI? Now who is pathetic Spanky, I think it is your friend.
Linda November 25, 2012 at 01:35 am
Robert, until you can afford a house like mine in Squirrel Hill be quite hahahaha. Anyway, just kidding but seriously money can't buy class. Did you teach that to your class teacher????
Robert November 25, 2012 at 01:46 am
No edna.....money and class aren't in my teaching plans,,,,,I would rather teach them the difference between the words QUIET and QUITE so they can express themselves properly in writing.
Suz November 25, 2012 at 04:24 am
Again so I am correct, your claim is that the police report is full of lies, the victims lied, and the witness is also not telling the truth. What about the alcohol on her breath and the drugs? Is that a lie too?
haha November 26, 2012 at 09:47 pm
too funny :) Not that she did that, but that we are seeing an old highschool "friend" on here. she is now getting what she deserves, as will all of her group of loser friends
Erin Faulk (Editor) November 26, 2012 at 10:00 pm
Hi guys,
First, I have deleted some comments on this thread because they contained profanity, which is against Patch terms of use. Personal insults and defamatory comments also are against Patch terms of use, and I have deleted those comments as well. I will continue to allow comments on this thread, but they will have to be approved before they are posted. Comments containing profane, inappropriate or offensive language, or personal attacks, will be immediately deleted. Please refer to the Patch Terms of Use: http://dormont-brookline.patch.com/terms Thanks.
Ed M November 27, 2012 at 12:07 pm
Based on some of your posts, Robert, I don't think you will be able to teach that.
Nazy H November 27, 2012 at 01:39 pm
The above comment, Robert, is this about you having the little town blues? Or you thinking we all need it? Because other comments have clearly stated we like it here so I am not sure why you would post about your own feelings being negative. I am confused, again, by your posts. You seem depressed since you have moved away from such a vibrant area, called Dormont. We like it here, we moved to be here, so what you post doesn't make sense. Are you trying to spell Dormont at Mormon or Moron? I don't understand you again, constantly misspelling an area that you and everyone agrees that we are glad you don't live here anymore. Please post something relevant to the article, nothing you have posted has.

@MCG - I appreciate how you perceived the situation and I apologize if that was in fact the case.Read More Like I said I was not privy to the exact conversation. However at the time it wasn't explained like that to me so I was unaware and handled it as I interpreted it. My apologies if I was mistaken.
Johann Lynge June 13, 2013 at 04:07 am
@Debbie L. Actually the police have not been to the pub in a long time. The last time they wereRead More there was because I called them because a man who was intoxicated (which we didn't serve because he is barred) came in and refused to leave. And I don't ever recall seeing the fire department there. But to blame it on the Pub is a misconception because even if you closed the pub there are half a dozen other bars on the blvd that everyone would then frequent. While Bob Dobbs recommendation of reinstating prohibition might sound like a good idea good luck with that. Prohibition didn't prevent drinking in the 20's and it wouldn't stop it now either. Ultimately we can not make everyone happy but we do our best to run a safe and friendly establishment. And I make it my personal mission to prevent any and all fights. Since I've been the door man (almost 6 months) we have only had 1 fight in the bar which was quickly broken up. We are not perfect. Nor is any other bar. But we constantly strive to make improvements. We are a community pub. We love our community and everyone in it.
Bob Dobbs June 13, 2013 at 01:23 pm
i should say that out of the handful of bars in the vicinity, i prefer the brookline pub if i'mRead More gonna go to a bar . i dont care for the younger kids that accumulate on saturday nights with that annoying ghetto music but the food specials are decent and they do stock a decent selection of beers . i find zippy's to be much more clique-y and narrow-minded .
Brad Birdwell June 10, 2013 at 09:18 pm
@Daria. My description is 100% accurate. Yes, the bouncer quickly handled the situation by claimingRead More he witnessed "the whole thing". And he did. He witnessed my friends and I waiting to order a drink. That's all. Nothing more. Nothing less. The description is not harsh, it's actually toned down in comparison to what actually happened. The bouncer said, "I witnessed the whole thing and you were being a ****. One customer standing in line to order. One customer flicking another customer's hood and getting in his face. Which one was wrong? Apparently me since I don't go there frequently.
Johann Lynge June 11, 2013 at 08:39 am
To everyone following this thread, I'm the doorman in question at the Brookline Pub. I've posted aRead More response to the original poster on Patch.com that can be found at the following address: http://dormont-brookline.patch.com/groups/opinion/p/in-response-to-the-post-brookline-pubhorrible-experience I implore everyone to read that response to hear my side of the story. Thank you.
Debbie L. June 12, 2013 at 09:36 pm
Brad,,i totally agree with ya 100 percent,,nothing but trouble there, when my son starts going thereRead More from time to time again, i know hes up to no good.
Erin Faulk (Editor) June 8, 2013 at 06:08 pm
Thanks for adding this, Drew! Article coming soon. If you have any photos from the games, pleaseRead More feel free to add the photos here, too.

But I reported on documented actions that happened within the community. Where is the violation?
Erin Faulk (Editor) June 5, 2013 at 05:54 pm
One was removed for personal attacks, another because it implied that there was corruption by aRead More specific person. Although you didn't name the person, it was implied. Since the corruption was never proven, I removed the comment. It's over. You're welcome to continue commenting as long as you follow the term of use.

Yeah I guess the public online court records showing someone pleading guilty is not proof
