Dormont VFD Responds to Early-Morning Fire

A fire broke out at a Grandin Ave. home in Dormont around 6:30 a.m.

Four local fire departments responded to a fire in the 1400 block of Grandin Avenue in Dormont around 6:30 a.m. Saturday.

Jeff Arnold, deputy chief of the said the fire was contained to the third floor of the single-family home.

"Structural wise, there was no damage at all except for the heat and smoke," Arnold said.

The fire might have been started by an electric blanket, but that has not been confirmed, Arnold said. The fire marshal is investigating.

Arnold said two Dormont firemen sustained minor injuries and were treated.

The fire departments of Mt. Lebanon, Whitehall and Castle Shannon also responded.
