Dormont Police Seek Info in Vandalism Spree

Several cars were damaged Monday night.

are investigating a vandalism spree that occurred in the borough Monday night, but they don’t have much to go on.

Sgt. Michael Bisignani said 11 cars in the 2700 and 2800 blocks Boradway Avenue were damaged between Monday evening and Tuesday morning, but so far no witnesses have come forward and there aren’t any suspects.

“Unfortunately, it’s kind of a busy street right there and it does get a lot of traffic,” he said. “There are no cameras and it is kind of dark.”

Because the incident happened at night, he said, most people were probably asleep or indoors when it occurred.

Bisignani said similar incidents have happened in the area in the past, but vandalism typically occurs during the summer when more kids are outside later. He said he doesn’t know who is responsible for this incident, but said it likely was done intentionally.

“It’s all the driver-side mirrors, so it seems like someone was just going down the road and knocking them off the cars,” he said.

There was no other damage to the vehicles, he said. The police department does not yet have the total dollar amount of damage done.

Bisignani said often someone will come forward with information, or the police will receive a tip about an incident in the weeks after it occurs.

“Sometimes people talk down the road, or someone does something stupid and gets caught,” Bisignani said. “We’re hopeful.”
