Dormont police stopped a car because of a Mt. Lebanon incident, and ended up helping to solve a Bethel Park case.

An incident in Mt. Lebanon led to solve a case in Bethel Park.

A Dormont police officer on patrol around 6 p.m. April 30 stopped a white Toyota Celica in the 2800 block of West Liberty Avenue. The Celica matched the description of a car whose passengers had been involved in a fight in the parking lot of Nam’s Korean Karate School in Mt. Lebanon that day.

The occupants of the car were identified as Doran Mouldin, 18, address unknown, and two teenagers younger than age 18.

According to the report from Dormont police, when questioned, one of the teens told officers they had been looking around in MIB Entertainment, but that they had not bought or sold anything.

Police said officer Jonathan Sagwitz contacted MIB Entertainment and confirmed that the teens had sold a Garmin GPS unit to the store that day.

The GPS was traced to an address in Bethel Park, in a neighborhood where several vehicle break-ins had occurred the night before.  The GPS, as well as several other items found in the Celica, were listed as items stolen in the break-ins.

Mouldin withdrew his original statements, and told police he and his girlfriend had broken into several cars in the Bethel Park neighborhood and stolen a number of items, according to the police report.

Mouldin and one of the teens were taken into custody to be questioned by Bethel Park police.
