Dormont Firemen Sworn In Thursday

The Dormont Volunteer Fire Department held a swearing in ceremony Thursday evening.

Members of the were sworn in during a brief ceremony held at the fire station Thursday evening.

Deputy Chief Jeff Arnold said he was proud of the number of members who had served with the department for several years.

“This is like a second full-time job for these guys,” Arnold said. “They really have to put a lot of time into this. It’s a big commitment to make.”

One of the department’s newest members, Jeff Stakich, has been with the department for about two-and-a-half years, Arnold said, while Chief Denny Davis has been a member for more than 30.

Dormont Mayor Tom Lloyd led the swearing-in ceremony. Council President Bill McCartney also attended and toured the fire department.

“Every year I look at this as an honor,” Lloyd said.

Lloyd said he looks forward to the future, as the fire department is able to work with the new borough council.

Line officers in the department are Chief Denny Davis, Deputy Chief Jeff Arnold, Captain Bryan Taylor and Captain Rick Lagamba.

Association officers are President George Nelson, vice President Chris Lloyd, secretary Joey Schoenefeldt and treasurer Jeff Stakich.
