Dormont Pizza Shop Fire Activity Closes West Liberty Avenue

An early morning building fire in Dormont kept West Liberty Avenue closed Tuesday morning.

A building fire on West Liberty Ave. in Dormont has caused some significant traffic delays in the area. 

The fire originated in Angelina's Pizza at 3263 West Liberty Ave., near McFarland Rd. 

Dormont fire Chief Jeff Arnold said the fire was reported around 5:15 a.m. and he believes the fire started in the kitchen of the pizza shop. Chief Arnold reports this was a difficult fire to fight due to an issue with a gas line. No injuries have been reported.

There are two apartments above the pizza business and two residents were able to escape the fire. Neighboring buildings were evacuated as a precaution. 

Dormont firefighters and several other fire companies are still working at the scene as of 8:25 a.m.

Several local streets are blocked around the fire scene causing traffic delays for morning commuters. The West Liberty Ave. closures start at Scott Road in Mt. Lebanon and continue to Park Boulevard.
