According to a criminal complaint, Waschak “sucker punched” and broke a man’s jaw behind Slapshots bar after 2 a.m. on May 8.

The alleged victim said Waschak, who he didn’t know, yelled profanities at him. He asked Waschak what his problem was, and Waschak punched him, the complaint said.

But Waschak told police it was self-defense. He said the alleged victim overheard him joking to a friend he was talking to on his phone and then came at him first, according to the complaint.

Waschak is charged with aggravated and simple assault and disorderly conduct.

DUI, striking police car:

Kirsten Nicole Curry, 25, of the 3900 block of Willow Avenue, Castle Shannon, was held for court Thursday on charges she hit a Dormont patrol car while drunk.

Sgt. Ralf Zawischa was pulling into the police station about 2:45 a.m. May 13, when Curry swiped his car and drove off, according to a criminal complaint.

Zawischa stopped Curry’s Toyota at Hillsdale and Espy avenues. She failed field sobriety tests and was taken to St. Clair Hospital for blood work, according the complaint.

Curry was charged with two counts of driving under the influence, one count of careless driving and leaving the scene of an accident.

Charges reduced:

Shirley Abbott, 52, of the 1400 block of Potomac Avenue, pleaded guilty Thursday to reduced charges of disorderly conduct to resolve a drug case.

Police responding to a call found Abbott lying unresponsive in on the floor in her kitchen with a syringe and a stamp bag nearby on Feb. 19.

Paramedics revived her and took her to St. Clair Hospital for treatment.

Abbott had been charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and disorderly conduct, but charges were reduced for good behavior.
