Criminal Complaint: Kunco's Vehicle Had a 'Great Quantity of Blood'

Jordan Clemons had what appeared to be blood on his shoes and "significant injuries to his hands," according to a criminal complaint filed Monday by state police in Washington.

The complaint, which was obtained by Canon-McMillan Patch, also gives new information on the events that led to the Canonsburg man's arrest on homicide charges.

State police charged Clemons with criminal homicide, aggravated assault, abuse of a corpse and other charges on Monday. The charges stem from the stabbing death of his ex-girlfriend, Karissa Kunco.

The complaint states that Kunco's mother contacted police when her daughter failed to meet a friend in Castle Shannon to go tanning.

In the meantime, the document states that Clemons accessed two bank cards that Kunco carried with her at two Washington County stores—one to purchase a game console in Washington and then to unsuccessfully attempt to purchase cigarettes in Cecil Township.

The complaint also sheds light on the state of Kunco's car, which was recovered in Cecil Township Jan. 12.

"The vehicle's engine was still running and the vehicle only sustained minor damage," the document stated, added that Kunco's purse, with identification, was found on the front seat.

And that's not all.

The officer "also noticed blood on the back seat. There was also some clothing which contained what appeared to be blood located on the back seat of the vehicle."

The complaint continued: "A search warrant was obtained for the vehicle and a great quantity of blood was found under the rear seat of the vehicle."

As of Monday afternoon, Clemons had not yet been arraigned on the new charges. District Judge Valerie Costanzo declined to release the complaint to reporters early Monday, saying there was a "hold" put on the file by state police because he had yet to be arraigned.

A call the court administrator's office regarding the reason for the hold was not immediately returned.

Since then, he was arraigned by Costanzo and remanded to the Washington County Jail. His preliminary hearing is set for Feb. 1.

Clemons was already in Washington County Jail on $500,000 total bond for charges related to an alleged home invasion in Canonsburg.

At a press conference Tuesday afternoon, Washington County District Attorney Gene Vittone lauded law enforcement members for their "swift and commendable actions" and said the investigation is still ongoing.
