Brookline Resident Confronts Burglar Inside Home

Brookline, Beechview Crime Blotter, Sept. 24 to Sept. 30.

Pittsburgh police are investigating after a Brookline resident found an intruder inside his Pioneer Avenue home.

Around 10 p.m. on Sept. 24, a homeowner in the 1700 block of Pioneer Avenue found a man he didn’t know inside his home. According to the police report, the homeowner confronted the intruder, who then ran into a wooded area near the home. Police said there were no signs of forced entry, and it is not known how the intruder entered the home.

The suspect is described as a white male, about 180lbs with a medium build, brown short hair and scruffy facial hair. The suspect was wearing blue jeans and a black hoodie.

Burglary

  • Prescription medication, bottles of alcohol, cigarettes and a camera were reported stolen from a home in the 1400 block of Methyl Street in Beechview on Sept. 28 between 1 a.m. and 8:30 a.m.The homeowner told police the burglar entered the home through an unlocked front door.
  • Electronics and a safe were stolen from a home in the 600 block of Mayville Avenue in Brookline between 9:30 p.m. on Sept. 24 and 1:15 p.m. on Sept. 25. The victim told police the intruder forced open a rear door to enter the home.
  • Money was stolen from a home in the 2900 block of Pioneer Avenue in Brookline on Sept. 27 between 9 a.m. and 2:15 p.m. The burglar entered the home through an unsecured garage door.

Theft

  • Medication, money and jewelry were stolen from a home in the 1800 block of Whited Street in Brookline on Sept. 24 around 2:38 p.m.

Stolen Vehicle

  • A vehicle was stolen without the keys from the 2500 block of Louisiana Avenue in Beechview on Sept. 27 between midnight and 5 a.m.

Arrests

  • William Davison of Sewickley was arrested for DUI by an officer conducting a roving DUI checkpoint on Sept. 30 at the intersection of West Liberty and Cape May avenues in Beechview.
  • Karrie Dowling of Carrick was arrested by Narcotics Detectives for possession of heroin, and Solomon Givens of Brookline was arrested for possession with the intent to deliver heroin and marijuana. Givens also was charged for being a former convict not to own a firearm. The arrests were made on Sept. 27 at Stetson and Woodward avenues in Brookline.
  • Clinton Keller of Brookline was arrested for public drunkenness, harassment, defiant trespass and aggravated assault for assaulting an off-duty police officer in the 2800 block of Keniworth Street on Sept. 26 at 5:10 p.m.
  • Lindsey Gregory of Freedom, Pa. was arrested for possession of heroin at West Liberty and Belle Isle avenues in Brookline on Sept. 25.
