Brookline Police Blotter Update March 12 to March 18

The following information was supplied by Pittsburgh Police. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Robbery

  • The Pittsburgh police robbery squad is investigating an incident in which a Beechview store was robbed at gunpoint. A woman told police she was approached by two unknown men with guns on March 15 around 7 p.m., who ordered her inside the store at 1900 Broadway Ave. and demanded money. The men stole money and fled.

Burglary

  • The victim reported that someone forced open a front door and entered a home in the 1500 block of Kenberma Avenue in Beechview. Prescription medication and a file cabinet were stolen from the home. The incident was reported March 16 at 3:58 p.m.

Theft

  • A woman reported that someone stole a flower planter from her yard in the 1400 block of Merrick Avenue in Brookline. The incident was reported March 14 at 9 a.m.

Theft from Vehicle

  • A man reported that someone stole the license plate from his vehicle while it was parked in the 500 block of Crane Avenue in Beechview. The incident occurred March 15 between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.

  • Candice Smolarek of Washington, PA was arrested for DUI in the 1000 block of Saw Mill Run Boulevard in Beechview on March 18.
  • A man was arrested for domestic violence in the 1600 block of Methyl Street in Beechview on March 17.
  • A woman was arrested for domestic violence in the 1500 block of Beechview Avenue in Beechview on March 13.
  • Charles Bullitt of Dormont was arrested for DUI at West Liberty and Saranac avenues in Brookline on March 15.
  • A man and woman were arrested for providing false identification to law enforcement in the 1000 block of East Entry Drive in Banksville on March 13.
  • Troy Mieczkowski of Brentwood was arrested for DUI at Avacoll Drive and Carnahan Road in Banksville on March 17.
