Brookline Police Blotter March 26 to March 31

The following information was supplied by Pittsburgh Police. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Arson

  • A man told police that someone set a dumpster on fire on his property at West Liberty and Saranac avenues in Brookline. The incident occurred March 28 at 2 a.m.

Burglary

  • Police received a report that someone broke a garage window in the 2600 block of Pioneer Avenue in Brookline and stole keys from a drop off slot. The incident was reported March 30 at 1:10 a.m.
  • A woman reported that someone she knew entered her Broadway Avenue home in Beechview and residence and caused damage to her daughter’s room. The incident occurred March 26 between 3 and 6 p.m.

Theft

  • A man reported that someone stole a license plate that fell from his vehicle while it was parked in the 100 block of Capital Avenue in Brookline. The incident occurred March 30 between 5 and 6 p.m.
  • A man told police that someone stole a copper downspout from his Plainview Avenue home in Brookline and fled in pick up truck. The incident occurred March 27 at 4:30 p.m.
  • An unattended cell phone was stolen from a store in the 700 block of Brookline Boulevard in Brookline on March 31. The incident was reported at 7 p.m.

Theft from vehicle

  • Money was stolen from an unlocked vehicle while it was parked in the 1500 block of Berkshire Avenue in Brookline on March 31. The incident was reported at 7 a.m.

Stolen Vehicle

  • A man told police that someone stole his vehicle without the keys while it was parked in the area of Banksville Road and Wenzell Avenue in Beechview. The incident occurred between 8 p.m. on March 26 and 5 p.m. on March 27.

Criminal Mischief 

  • A woman reported that someone she might know flattened two of her vehicle’s tires while it was parked in the 1800 block of Broadway Avenue in Beechview. The incident occurred March 29 between 5 a.m. and 8 p.m.
  • A vehicle was damaged while it was parked in the 1200 block of  Chelton Avenue in Brookline. The incident occurred between 6 p.m. on March 29 and 7 a.m. on March 30.
  • A man told police that someone, who was later identified, damaged his vehicle while it was parked in the 300 block of Winterhill Street in Brookline between 8 p.m. on March 29 and 3 a.m. on March 30.

Arrests

  • Shane Dubart of Brookline was arrested near Brookline Boulevard and Flatbush Avenue on March 28 for driving a vehicle with altered inspection and emission stickers.
  • Degnan of Upper St. Clair was arrested for DUI near West Liberty Avenue and Saranac Avenue in Brookline on March 26.
  • Marc Hayman of Philadelphia and Michael Allen Jr. of Cellingdale, PA were arrested in the 2800 block of Banksville Road on March 29 by vice detectives for prostitution and possession of marijuana.
