Brookline, Overbrook Residents Arrested During Whitehall Burglary
Whitehall Police charged a man and woman with a mid-day burglary on Azalea Drive.
A neighbor and a Whitehall Borough Public Works employee stayed on the phone with police while witnessing a daylight burglary on Azalea Drive earlier this month, according to Whitehall police Chief Donald R. Dolfi.
Both witnesses called police during the afternoon of June 3 to report that a woman was repeatedly going in and out of a home in the 5100 block of Azalea while carrying items from the home to an SUV parked outside, Dolfi said.
A male driver was in the SUV.
Dolfi said that the home in question has been known to police in the recent past as a site of prowling and trespassing.

As the man and woman left the area in the SUV, police officers stopped the SUV at a different point on Azalea and removed them from the vehicle.
Both the man—Matthew Joseph Gourley, 41, of 81 Briggs St. in Pittsburgh's Overbrook neighborhood—and the woman—Kelly Haney, 33, of 1718 Pioneer Ave. in the Brookline neighborhood—were taken into custody and charged with burglary and criminal conspiracy. Dolfi said that the front door of the burglarized home had its front door kicked in.

Gourley was also charged with possession of a controlled substance. He had a .45-caliber semi-automatic pistol in his possession, as well, Dolfi said, but was permitted to have it.
