Brookline Man Sentenced in Mortgage Fraud Case

Richard Veazey faces more than three years in prison.

A Brookline real estate appraiser has been sentenced to 46 months in prison for his role in two separate mortgage fraud schemes.

On Monday, U.S. District Judge Donetta W. Ambrose also sentenced Richard Lawrence Veazey, 53, of 901 Dunster St., to three years probation for crimes that cost lending institutions between $1 million and $2.5 million.

In June, Veazey pleaded guilty to submitting fraudulent appraisals that overstated the value of the properties serving as collateral for loans. Veazey also accepted responsibility for providing fraudulent appraisals in connection with an otherwise unrelated mortgage fraud scheme.
