Brookline Homes Burglarized While Residents Sleep

Three burglaries were reported last week, all while the residents were at home and sleeping.

Three home burglaries were reported in Brookline last week, and the victims were not only home during the break-ins—they were asleep.

The first reported burglary happened in the 700 block of Berkshire Avenue on Aug. 16, between 4:45 and 6:45 a.m. The victim told police someone forced open a side window of the home and entered the residence while he was sleeping. Money and jewelry were stolen.

Then, either late at night on Aug. 16 or early Aug. 17, two more similar burglaries were reported, both in the 1600 block of Greencrest Drive.

In both cases, the burglar forced open windows to enter the home. Cigarettes, money and a check book were reported stolen from one home, and money was reported stolen in another incident.

Similar incidents have been reported throughout the area.

Castle Shannon police are continuing to investigate a series of similar burglaries in the borough. . The burglar broke in through a kitchen window and stole money.

A similar burglary occurred Monday night or early Tuesday morning on Nilden Drive near the Baldwin Township border.
