A Beechview man was arrested twice last week, in two separate incidents.
Pittsburgh police responded to Carnegie Library on Brookline Boulevard on April 25 at 12:15 p.m. for a report of a man who appeared to be intoxicated, sleeping on a couch in the library.
Police awakened the man—identified as Joshua Riley, 24, of Beechview—and found drugs and drug paraphernalia in his possession.
According to the report from Pittsburgh police, officers recovered seven stamp bags of heroin, 11 pills and a hypodermic needle.
Riley was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. A preliminary hearing on these charges is scheduled for May 29 before Judge Donna Jo McDaniel.
Riley also was arrested April 20 in Beechview for stealing money from the tip jars of two Broadway Avenue businesses, according to police reports. A preliminary hearing on these charges is scheduled for June 11.
