Beechview Fire Damages Townhouse, Spreads to Neighboring Home

The fire broke out in a town home on Vodeli Street Thursday afternoon.

No injuries were reported in a Thursday afternoon fire in Beechview, but the flames were intense enough to spread to a home next door.

The blaze started in a two-story brick townhome at 2205 Vodeli Street in Beechview around 5:30 p.m. Thursday. The City of Pittsburgh fire department responded and had the fire under control in about 15 minutes, according to assistant Chief Tom Cook.

Cook said the fire was brought under control quickly, but that flames did spread to a house next door and damaged the roof.

The townhome was extensively damaged inside on both floors, and upper and lower decks on the front of the home were destroyed. Cook said he did not have an estimate for the damage.

At least two people were displaced. Cook said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
