Arrest, Charges Follow Fight at Jamison's Bar

Dormont police updates, April 26 to May 3.

A Beechview man was arrested following a fight at Jamison’s Bar that resulted in a number of injuries.

Officers from Dormont, Mt. Lebanon and Castle Shannon, as well as Medical Rescue Team South Authority responded to the bar at 1:30 a.m. for a report of a fight with injuries.

According to the police report, David Domostoy, 28, was refused service at the bar because he appeared to be highly intoxicated when he arrived. The bar’s owner told police that after he was refused, Domostoy began attacking the owner, and other patrons.

Police said that when a patron attempted to help the bar owner restrain Domostoy, Domostoy threw the patron through the glass front door of the bar, shattering the door and injuring the patron. The patron sustained cuts to his head, and was treated at the scene.

Domostoy was charged with felony first-degree aggravated assault, criminal mischief, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on May 9 before Magisterial District Judge Blaise P. Larotonda.

  • A Cadillac parked on West Liberty Avenue at 6:27 a.m. was towed for being parked in the north bound lane during the rush hour period. The owner was issued a citation.

April 28

  • Dormont police, with officers from Mt. Lebanon and Castle Shannon, responded to Cain’s Saloon at 12:57 a.m. for a report of a disturbance taking place between two men and a woman. Jason Bell, 33, of Carnegie, was arrested and cited for public drunkenness after he refused multiple requests from police to leave the bar, according to the police report.
  • Officers responded to the 1400 block of Potomac Avenue at 2:51 a.m. for a complaint of about 10 men fighting in the street. According to the police report, most men left the scene voluntarily when police arrived, but Richard Vakulick, 22, of Castle Shannon was arrested when he refused officers’ requests to stop screaming at people in the area. Vakulick was cited for public drunkenness.

April 29

  • Dormont and Mt. Lebanon police responded to Beggs Snyder Park at 10:05 p.m. for a report of teenagers drinking in the park. Alexander White, 18, of the North Hills, as well as four juveniles younger than age 18, were cited for underage drinking.

April 30

  • A Honda Civic parked on West Liberty Avenue at 6:25 a.m. was towed for being parked on the street during the rush hour period.

May 1

  • Police responded to the Potomac Avenue LRT stop for a report of a semi-conscious juvenile who had overdosed on drugs. The juvenile was taken to St. Clair Hospital for treatment and was later cited for public drunkenness/similar misconduct and for disorderly conduct.
