PHOTOS: Bonefish Grill Has Something for Everyone

The new restaurant is now open and is just a short drive from Dormont and Brookline.

Bonefish Grill in Upper St. Clair is now open and has something for everyone.

The restaurant chain is the first to open in the Pittsburgh area and is known for its fresh seafood.

The Bang Bang Shrimp appetizer—tender, crispy shrimp tossed in a creamy, spicy (but not too spicy) sauce—is its most popular menu item. It's only $5 on Wednesdays.

Customers can also try the Bang Bang Shrimp in a taco.

Some of the other fish choices include Chilean sea bass, longfin tilapia and ahi tuna. Pair the fish with one of four sauces: warm mango salsa, chimichurri, lemon butter and pan Asian.

The kobe beef burger (must use two hands!) and Lily's Chicken—with goat cheese, sautéed spinach, artichoke hearts and a lemon basil sauce—are also very popular purchases at the seafood chain.

The fresh fish dishes pair well with the large array of "bar-fresh" cocktails. Even the screwdriver is made with freshly-squeezed orange juice.

A favorite martini is the Ocean Trust Mango Martini—Absolut Citron vodka combined with freshly muddled mango and orange. For each Ocean Trust Martini sold, Bonefish Grill donates $1 to Ocean Trust.

“We are excited to open our doors and become part of the South Hills community,” said Joshua Ward, managing partner of Bonefish Grill in South Hills and Carnegie resident. “Our team looks forward to providing locals with the classic Bonefish Grill experience—from fresh fish and innovative dishes to warm hospitality and inviting atmosphere—our goal is to ensure exceptional dining from start to finish.”

Ward said the restaurant hired about 120 employees, with about 90 percent of the from the South Hills area, and there are plans to add a second Bonefish Grill in the Cranberry area.

The restaurant kicked off its opening with a Charity Night on Jan. 12. More than $9,000 was raised for the United Way of Allegheny County.

Bonefish Grill is located at 1835 Washington Rd. Dinner is served seven days a week: 4 to 10:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 4 to 11:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday, including Sunday brunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. While reservations are not required, they are available by calling 412-835-3239.
