April Showers Bring Fresh Air to Pittsburgh Real Estate

Pittsburgh's real estate market is heating up! If you've been considering selling your home, now may be the best time to do so.

The weather isn’t the only thing heating up in Pittsburgh! April kicked off a very hot season for residential real estate in Southwestern Pennsylvania. According to the West Penn Multi-List, Inc., there was an increase in homes listed for sale, number of homes under agreement and average sales prices during the month of April.

When compared to April 2013, this past April saw a 4.92% increase in homes listed for sale and a 17.24% increase in homes placed under agreement. Additionally, the average home sale price increased 1.48% and average days on market decreased 7.48%.1

So what does this mean for Pittsburghers thinking about selling their home? Take the leap! With lower than average inventory levels, many local homeowners are selling their homes quicker than they would have even just a few months ago.

“As we transition into summer, my advice for those who are on the fence about selling their home is that now is the time to do it,” says Ron Croushore, CEO of Prudential Preferred Realty. “On the flip side, my biggest advice for buyers is to think fast! Homes will continue to sell quickly throughout the next few months and if you find a home you’re interested in, be sure to act on it before it’s too late.”
