Boys who will be in 1st through 5th grade for the 2011-2012 school year are eligible to join Cub Scouts.

Cub Scouting means "doing." You will have lots to do as a Cub Scout in Pack 870—crafts, games, sports, songs, stories, puzzles and much more!

Apart from the fun and excitement, the aim of Cub Scouting is to help boys grow into good citizens who are strong in character and personally fit. This is why we say that Cub Scouting is fun with a purpose.

While you're having fun, you'll also be earning badges and awards. You'll work on projects with your family, and all of you will feel good about the things you accomplish.

Some of the exciting activities for 2011-2012 include:  Pittsburgh Pirates honor guard & baseball game, family camping at South Park, bowling, caroling, snow tubing, pinewood derby, Memorial Day parade, family camp at Camp Guyasuta, pool party and mini-golf tournament.

We also go camping and have other kinds of outdoor adventures all year round, including our Scouting for Food Drive, and our summer Day Camp and Resident Camp.

We practice citizenship by taking part in community events, marching in parades, volunteering with community projects, and helping out when asked or when a special need arises.
