My name is Robert Domer. I am a current Boy Scouts of America active member in BSA Troop 614. The purpose of
the Boy Scouts of America, incorporated on February 8, 1910, and chartered by Congress in 1916, is to provide an educational program for boys and young adults to build character, to train in the responsibilities of participating
citizenship, and to develop personal fitness(www.scouting.org).The Boy Scouts of America (BSA)
organization is a registered not for profit organization under 501(c)(3) and exists for the benefits of youths. According to a National Program Outcomes Study conducted by Louis Harris & Associates, boy scouts agree that being a scout has increased their self-confidence and taught them skills that they could not get elsewhere.
I started in boy scouts at the age of 6 and have been involved ever since. I am currently 17 years old and working on my Eagle Scout Rank. The Eagle Scout Rank
is the highest achievement a boy scout can earn. Of all boy scouts, only approximately 5% of scouts earn their Eagle Scout Rank. The Eagle Scout rank must be earned prior to the scouts 18th birthday.

Over the past year in scouting, I had the opportunity to earn by Lifeguard Certification, in which I was actively employed over the summer at South Park wave pool, and my First Aid, CPR & AED Certification. After my training I realized the vital importance of an AED (Automatic External Defibrillator) machine. An AED can shcok a person out of a fatal heart rhythm. I then begin to notice AED machines in local grocery stores, businesses and churches. My local chartered organization, BirminghamUnited Church of Christ, does not have an AED machine. The church is a house for many organizations including AARP, Weight Watchers, Narcotics Anonymous, Cub Scouts and Boy
Scouts. I thought the church could benefit from an AED machine.
My Eagle Scout leadership project includes obtaining an AED for my charter organization, Birmingham United Church of Christ. I believe having an AED available in the church could save a life. My project includes fundraising for an AED machine, maintenance fees and instruction on the use of an AED. I am requesting your attendance at BSA Troop 614 annual Spaghetti Dinner. The dinner shall be held at Birmingham United Church of Christ, 25 Carrick Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15210 on Sunday, November 11, 2012 from 4:00pm-7:00pm. This year all proceeds
from the dinner shall be donated to my Eagle Scout project. Reservations accepted, but not required. Tickets are available at the door. Monetary
donations are accepted. All checks are payable to BSA Troop 614. I am available for any questions. My
