Winter Weather Advisory: Mixture of Snow, Sleet, and Freezing Rain Predicted for Morning Rush

The storm could affect morning rush hour traffic.

There could be very little rush to the Monday morning rush hour. The National Weather service in Pittsburgh has issued a winter weather advisory from 1 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday for most of Western Pennsylvania, including Dormont and Brookline.

A mixture of snow, sleet, and freezing rain is expected overnight into Monday morning. Because very cold ground and snow pack, roads and sidewalks are expected to be icy.

Here is a more detailed look at the forecast:

  • Sunday Night: Snow and freezing rain before 5am, then snow, freezing rain, and sleet. Low around 29. Southeast wind 5 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
  • Monday: Rain or freezing rain, becoming all rain after 11am. High near 43. Southwest wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
  • Monday Night: A chance of showers. Cloudy, with a low around 43. Southwest wind 11 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
