UPDATE: West Liberty Avenue Re-opens

West Liberty Avenue has re-opened after a traffic accident had it closed for 12 hours.

West Liberty Avenue has re-opened in both directions.

The road was closed Monday between the intersections of Wenzell Avenue/Brookline Boulevard and Pauline Avenue after an early-morning accident.

A Duquense Light employee at the scene told Dormont-Brookline Patch the stretch of road was closed after a truck hit a utility pole around 2 or 2:30 a.m. Monday.

The employee said no power outages have been reported in the area, but crews were on scene to check the lines. Verizon employees also were on scene.

The full length of West Liberty, from the Brookline Boulevard intersection to the Liberty Tunnels, was open and traffic was moving normally as of 4:15 p.m.

so that's why my power went out briefly, over night ...

That definitely could have been it, Bob. The rep from Duquesne Light said there aren't any power outages in the area right now, fortunately. The lights at this intersection are flashing, but I believe that's a warning that the road is closed.
