cannon coffee ... sugar cafe is not a coffee-shop, it's a dessert thing and they only ever have 1 type of mediocre "house blend" coffee.

Bob - make sure you vote in the poll so that your opinion counts! We appreciate your comment but we're only counting poll votes to determine the outcome of this contest. Thanks!

They have their sugar blend , but have a nice amount of other coffee drinks! PLUS I can indulge in a home made cupcake, pastry, or fresh sandwich or salad! It's a coffe shop and then some!! Love it!!

Cannon Coffee has multiple varieties of coffee AND good panini sandwiches AND other tasty items, dessert-y stuff, as well . And, no nauseating blue paint on the walls !

No need to be so disparaging of Sugar Cafe. It's one thing to really like Cannon Coffee (it's a great little spot). But, why be critical of another small, independently owned neighborhood business that has character, tasty food, and has filled the coffee shop void in Dormont?

i'd like to see a proper coffee-shop go into that space where the florist is, on the corner of west lib. & potomac . it'd be perfect. hopefully florist will throw in the towel before long . out-dated and un-necessary . i do like sugar cafe's desserts. don't get me wrong . i personally just dont think blue and that shade that they painted, is appetizing . employees are very friendly, as well . no real desparaging intended.

Funny that you disparage another Dormont gem while defending your original post. I'm sure that Dormont Florist doesn't need me to come to their defense but they ARE doing well because they are very good at what they do. And Sugar Cafe..... they are fantastic. Very good coffee, great food, lots of talent on hand. I love them both.

Exactly Bob. There is no real coffee shop in Dormont and Dormont could use one.

The Sugar Cafe's coffee is so good that they do not need to have a bunch of different blends. I wish I had a cup right now.

I forgot to also point out that Dormont did have a coffee shop. It was up on W. Liberty across from where Cafe J's used to to be. I believe it closed due to lack of business. The folks who are griping about Dormont not having a coffee shop probably never set foot in the place...

they have a dark-roasted blend that is a little too far over the bitterness line. a couple more beans/origins would be good . yes, any coffee shop needs multiple choice of beans/origins . you are referring to that Tea Leaf cafe . That's more toward Mt. Lebanon. Nowhere to park . etc.

It was only there for a very short time, Daniele, and their coffee was only so-so which is probably why they went out of business. Variety is the spice of life!
