News Nearby: Route 88 Work Begins on Monday, Sept. 19

Short-term lane closures through Sept. 26.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation District 11-0 is announcing that short-term lane closures on Route 88 (Library Road) in Castle Shannon Borough will begin on Monday, Sept. 19.

Crews will be performing work on traffic signals at various intersections on Route 88 from Route 3037 (Castle Shannon Boulevard) to 6th Street/Killarney Drive. Restrictions—including single-lane, alternating-use traffic—will occur as needed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays through Sept. 26.

The work is included in a $4.7-million project started in 2009 to improve 1.15 miles of Route 88 from Castle Shannon Boulevard to 6th/Killarney. The prime contractor is C.H. & D. Enterprises, Inc., of New Stanton Borough. Overall work concludes in October.
