I have emailed Dormont Council President asking for Councils consideration in postponement of trick or treating in Dormont. I hope others concerned do the same.

Thanks, Kristen. I emailed the borough manager this morning, and it sounds like council is going to talk about this at tonight's meeting, which starts at 7 p.m.

I certainly hope they postpone it until Saturday. Not just for the sake of not being wet, cold and miserable - but for safety issues as well. Rainy nights make it so much more difficult to see and 6pm pm a weeknight is a pretty busy traffic time as it is. Rain, dark and traffic doesn't mix will with little ones in costumes.

Thanks Kirsten - I emailed the borough manager with my concerns and request to move it to Sat.

If u have trick or treating postponed til Saturday my 3 year old son will not get to go. I requested off work for Wednesday as that is the time it was originally scheduled. I work all day on Saturday. Stop being paranoid and have some consideration for others schedules. It's only rain

It rained on Halloween last year and everyone made it out alive.

I have emailed Dormont's council president and borough manager to get a final word on what day Dormont will have trick-or-treat. The borough's website and Facebook page, as well as the fire department's Facebook page, still have trick-or-treat listed as happening Wednesday. WPXI and KDKA's websites also still have Dormont's trick-or-treat listed as happening Wednesday. If anything changes, I will update this ASAP!

And we have official word! Dormont's trick-or-treat will be Saturday. Updating the article now.

We really make a big deal out of this don't we. Heck, when I was of Trick or Treating age, Halloween was on 10/31 regardless of the weather.

Castle Shannon has now postponed trick-or-treat also.
Jenny October 30, 2012 at 03:21 PM
My son and I are trick or treating tomorrow regardless. This community sucks and so does council.
