RIP…ANDY GRIFFITH 7-3-2012

Omg I’m so sad… Andy Griffith, who’s vision created one of my most beloved shows of all time has passed on.  Andy left us today, he was 86.  He did so at his house in Manteo, North Carolina.

WHY ARE ALL THE GREAT ACTOR’S LEAVING US?

As I’m sure you’ll in the coming days read many stories about Andy, but the thing
that most sticks out at me was everyone said now funny and sincere he was. I
AGREE. You’ll also find he luved North Carolina.  The Andy Griffith Show was based on the small community he grew up in.  And really who didn’t want to live in Mayberry when they were growing up. I’m sure you said to your parents many times, you were going to runaway to Mayberry.  I know I did.

I remember thinking boy, my daddy reminds me of Sheriff Taylor.

As I grew up I found a luv of all things vintage. Well I’m sure Andy wouldn’t want to be called vintage, but his vision of small town life, is now a day’s, a thing of the past. Vintage if you dare say.

I just cannot sit here while I type and not feel very sad.  I just luved what Andy stood for. Actually I wish we as Americans had a little bit of Mayberry kindness in us all.

Life was so much simpler, nicer and just plain happier back then. Did Andy know that he was creating a lasting image of what we wish we all had now? I think the
show had like 290 episodes and it is shown everyday somewhere in the world.
Wouldn’t it be wonderful to jump into our Deloreans and go back to just see for
ourselves how wonderful things were back then?

I know for a fact that Manteo was as close to that experience as Andy could
get.  I have vacationed down there for years and always like that part of Roanoke Island the best.  It is just so laid back, it’s beyond comforting.  I’ll always remember, I had made my husband’s family do a tour of the sounds because I wanted to see the island. They thought it was so lame, but they went.  The Captain of the boat pointed out Andy’s house from the water but said don’t even try to find it on land. We respect his privacy and he deserves it. Well we got off the boat & of course we had to try to find the house. It’s like telling a kid
not to eat candy, well we didn’t find it & I remember think boy it’s a shame I’ll never get to meet him. Well guess what I fell the same way today.  I am so happy he died where he was the happiest.

Andy was the kind of gentleman you’d wish every  guy was.

All I gotta say is well miss ya & tell everyone up there at the biggest party
there ever was I said Hi. And If you could, can you go say Hi to my Grandma’s, Cornell & Gillen, They luved you to.

Let’s all whistle a little song in honor of Andy. Ready Set Whistle….
