'Rocky Horror' This Weekend at the Hollywood

If you're burned out from the holidays, Hollywood Theater has a couple movies this weekend to take your mind off of it.

If you're up to your eyeballs in wrapping paper and candy canes, Dormont's Hollywood Theater is giving you a chance to step away and enjoy some non-holiday movies Friday and Saturday.

Today, Friday, the Hollywood is showing a special, private screening of "The Quantum Lords: The Trojan Horse." For more info, contact Andrew Wormsley at 412-523-7121 or andrewwormsley@gmail.com.

Starting at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, DJ Zombo will spin records at the theater until the 9:30 p.m. showing of "Urgh! A Music War" (1981). "Rocky Horror Picture Show" (1975) will run at midnight.

On Sunday it's time to get back into the holiday spirit. The Breakfast and a Movie special is "White Christmas." For details, click here.

In case you haven't heard, this is a sad day for the Hollywood. For now, Fox Studios has declined to let us show Rocky Horror in 2013 until we upgrade our equipment to the new DCP technology that many studios are requiring of all theaters. Check the theater's website for information on how you can help the Hollywood raise money to purchase this expensive equipment, come out tonight for the final showing (at least for now) of the movie and plan to come out January 5 for a fundraising "blackout" show, where the JCCP (the great group of shadow cast members who have been some of our biggest supporters) will act out the entire movie, without the movie this time. Follow our "Go Digital or Go Dark" campaign and help keep your neighborhood theater open for another generation of Rocky fans.

Thanks so much for posting this, Scott. Here's the blog entry Chad Hunter wrote about the Go Digital or Go Dark campaign: http://dormont-brookline.patch.com/blog_posts/the-hollywood-theater-must-go-digital-or-go-dark-in-2013 After Christmas, I'm happy to do some articles about the Hollywood's situation to help spread the word.
