The display is part of the Friends’ plan to encourage patrons to shop locally. The goal of the organization, which received nonprofit status last month, is to have a positive economic impact on the business district.

“It’s part of our mission statement, and I’ve seen it since we’ve been open,” Maggio said.

Between Anime movies last weekend, Maggio said he saw one customer leave the theater and return with a bag from The Exchange. He looks at it as a sign that Hollywood Theater is already making an impact.

“We’re seeing it more and more,” he said.
